First, the show spanning-tree bridge command lists the BID information for the local switch, while show spanning-treeroot lists the BID information for the root as well as the root overhead and root port for the local switch (assuming it is not the root switch). Thus, with the show spanning-tree bridge command, SW1 lists its own BID,with priority 28682 (base priority 28672, plus VLAN10). Still on SW1, when you use show spanning-tree bridge, the output lists the root's priority in VLAN10 as 24586,i.e., use the base priority 24576 plus 10, which is the value of VLAN10.Note that you can also choose to configure the priority settings specifically. You can use the spanning-tree vlan 10 priority28672 command for SW1 and the spanning-tree vlan 10 priority24576 command for SW2. Both generate the same STP operation in this particular current case.Configuring Fast Port and BPDU ProtectionYou can easily configure the fast port and BPDU protection features on any interface, but two different configuration options actually exist. One option gives the best results when you want to enable these features on only a few ports, and the other works better when you want to enable these features on almost every access port.First, to enable these features on one port at a time, you can use the spanning-tree Portfast and spanning-tree bpduguard enable interface subcommands. Example 2-6 gives an example of performing this procedure, where the F0/4 interface of SW3 has both features enabled.
